About
In 2015, Nottinghamshire was the first county in the country to launch a county-wide Best Bar None scheme.
In Nottinghamshire, all accredited venues are entered into a set of awards that are voted for by the public. Another set are awarded to a small number of premises selected from the very highest scoring accredited venues, judged by a panel of independent licensing experts. All award winners are announced at a black tie awards evening in the winter.
In 2015, we contacted over 200 venues to get involved in the scheme, and ended up with 71 accredited venues. In 2016, we contacted almost 300 venues and achieved 73 accreditations.
In 2015, the scheme scored Highly Commended in Best New Scheme and Most Innovative Scheme at the National Best Bar None Awards, and in 2016, the scheme again scored Highly Commended in the Most Innovative Scheme.
