The finalists in the Nottingham 2019 Best Bar None Awards have just been announced.

There are three finalists in seven different categories which are those businesses that gained the highest scores in their Best Bar None assessments.

These are as follows:

• Small Pub: New Foresters, The Ned Ludd and The Cross Keys
• Entertainment & Live Music Venue: Genting Casino, Grosvenor Casino and the National Ice Centre
• Club: Stealth, Pryzm and INK
• Restaurant: Annie’s Burger Shack, Browns Brasserie & Bar and The Hilton Hotel
• Large Pub: Ye Olde Salutation Inn, Pit & Pendulum and The Blue Bell Inn
• Large Bar: Revolucion de Cuba, Alto and Rescue Rooms
• Small Bar: Icon Bar and Lounge, Cucamara Cocktail Bar and Suede Bar

The finalists have all been through a judging process and the winners will be announced at a roaring twenties themed black tie event on Tuesday 10 September 2019, to which all accredited venues are invited.

Andrew Crawford, a director of Nottingham BID, said: “Over 100 venues in Nottingham city centre have been successful in gaining Best Bar None accreditation this year which is a record number so these venues have done particularly well to make the finals. Congratulations to them all and well done to all the venues that have secured accreditation. It sends out a clear message that venues take safety seriously.”

To achieve Best Bar None status, venues have to demonstrate that they have the correct policies and procedures in place to prove that they are safe, responsible and well operated, while also complying with relevant legislation.

They are then assessed on areas such as the prevention of crime and disorder; the measures they take to promote responsible drinking; their standards of safety and customer care; how they prevent and deal with public nuisance issues; the measures they have in place to protect children from harm and their approach to community engagement.

All the venues that have been successful in gaining the accreditation receive a certificate and window sticker for them to display to show that they are a Best Bar None accredited venue.

In Nottingham city centre, the scheme has been run by Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID) since 2010 and for the third year running, it is being sponsored by Nottingham based specialist licensing law firm Poppleston Allen.

Sarah Taylor, a partner at leading licensing law firm, Poppleston Allen, said: ““Being involved in a scheme that formally recognises the hard work of Nottingham operators against a national standard is fantastic. The quality of this year’s finalists is again very high and I look forward to highlighting and celebrating their success at this year’s awards night.”
