Around 60 people attended the first BBN awards in Swansea on Tuesday 11th September 2018. The awards ceremony was held in Revolution on Wind Street where guests enjoyed a welcome drink and a buffet very kindly organised by Swansea BID.
Brendan Bottomley the scheme coordinator hosted the evening which saw 15 venues receive their accreditation plaques.
Speeches were given by Mick McDonnell (National Coordinator) who talked about what was almost a three year journey to establish Best Bar None in Swansea, and how pleased he was to be able to attend and celebrate their first years success.
Russsel Greenslade – Swansea BID Director talked about how happy the BID were to support and coordinate the BBN scheme, and how initiatives like BBN contribute to making Swansea a safer, more vibrant city.
Mike Walmsley from a charity called The Wallich, gave an overview of what his charity did and how it was going to be working with the BID over the next year.
After a short break for food, the category winners were announced and this was followed by the announcement of the Overall Winner. Chris Board the General Manager of Fiction (a Deltic Venue) was asked to come up and receive the award.
Attendees also included representatives from Police Licensing, Swansea Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales.
A good night was enjoyed by all and a number of the guests returned to their own venues to continue the celebrations.
