Tuesday 24th October 2017 saw the second new scheme launched in Greater Manchester this year. Around 60 Licensees, Councillors and Greater Manchester Police officers all attended the event at Traders Tiki Bar, Goose Green, Altrincham in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford.
Speeches of support were given by the Police and the Council who encouraged all of the venues present to get involved.
PC Neil Parkin, Altrincham’s police licensing officer, together with Angela Stone from Altrincham Unlimited, Altrincham’s Business Improvement District (BID), spoke about how Best Bar None could be used to improve the customer experience ensuring they had a great time in a safe environment. Jake Cullen, a licensee and chair of the BBN steering group urged as many people as possible get involved to make Altrincham the best scheme in Manchester. Mick McDonnell, BBN National Coordinator, talked about the national picture and how Altrincham was joining a family of over 70 towns and cities across the UK all working to improve their Night-time offer through the Best Bar None Scheme.
With the speeches over and the photographs taken an opportunity to network and sample the buffet provided proved very popular. The event finished around 2100.
The Scheme is being coordinated by Altrincham Unlimited with support from the police, the council and the trade.
